Role Overview
We are seeking two reliable and hardworking Artisan Assistants to support our Fitter in maintaining, inspecting, and repairing GWK Silo Facilities. This is a hands-on role that requires a willingness to learn, the ability to follow technical instructions, and comfort working in various physical environments. Since the role involves supporting multiple locations, frequent travel between silo sites is expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Fitter with preventative maintenance and general repairs on silos and related infrastructure.
- Perform basic electrical and mechanical duties under supervision, including the use of drills, grinders, and test meters.
- Support boiler-making activities, such as basic welding, cutting, and grinding.
- Help assemble and fit mechanical parts and components.
- Conduct equipment inspections on structures, chutes, and valves.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning electrical equipment.
- Ensure all work strictly complies with health and safety standards.
- Travel to various sites to provide routine and emergency maintenance support.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification.
- Strong mechanical and electrical experience is essential.
- Proven troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with basic hand tools (drills, grinders, spanners).
- Physically fit and comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
- A valid driver’s license is highly advantageous.
- A valid trade certificate or applicable technical training is a plus.
- Willingness to travel and undergo further training.
