Role Overview

We are looking for a qualified Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant for our Glenfair store. In this role, you will provide professional pharmaceutical care by managing patients’ medication needs and ensuring all pharmacy operations meet high-quality standards.

Key Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
  • Active registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
  • Experience using the Unisolv system.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong numerical skills and clear communication in English (a second language is an advantage).
  • Ability to work retail hours.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines.
  • Prepare and compound non-sterile medicines according to approved standard operating procedures.
  • Manage the distribution and control of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medications.
  • Order and receive pharmacy stock, ensuring accurate record-keeping and storage.
  • Interpret prescriptions accurately and prepare medication under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Verify patient details and capture script information into the system.
  • Explain medication instructions and medical aid costs to patients.
  • Process medical aid claims and resolve any rejected claims.
  • Assist with stocktakes and maintain high standards of asset control.

  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • A reliable team player who can perform well under pressure.
  • Knowledge of FMCG operations or SAP/E-Scripting is an advantage.
