Key Responsibilities
Clinical Medical Care
- Assess illnesses or injuries that occur during flights.
- Create treatment plans to ensure patients reach their destinations safely.
- Manage medical paperwork and physician instructions during non-trauma situations.
Medical Certification and Regulation
- Prepare medical case presentations and draft minutes for the Aeromedical Committee.
- Help draft legislation and technical standards related to aviation medicine.
- Verify the work of medical examiners for cabin crew and recreational pilots.
- Research trends to develop new aviation safety strategies.
- Monitor the progress of medical appeals and safety management processes.
Oversight and Training
- Update the First Aid curriculum for cabin crew.
- Plan and conduct inspections for air ambulance operators and training organizations.
- Induct new First Aid examiners and instructors.
- Identify gaps in current training regulations and suggest improvements.
Public Health and Safety
- Coordinate workshops focused on preventing and managing public health events in aviation.
- Review international health and safety requirements (ICAO standards).
- Participate in the medical aspects of aircraft accident investigations.
- Ensure customer queries and safety concerns are resolved quickly.
- Maintain quality assurance standards (ISO 9001) within the medical department.
Requirements
Education
- A 4-year Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
Experience
Applicants should meet one of the following experience criteria:
- 3 years of experience in Public Health, Emergency Care, ICU, or as a Designated First Aid Examiner.
- 5 years of experience in a Corporate or Quality Management environment.
- 5 years of experience as a Designated First Aid Examiner.
- 5 years of experience in Infection Control, Research, or as an ICU/Emergency Sister.
