Educational Requirements
- A basic R425 qualification (Diploma or Degree in Nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science (Operating Theatre Nursing). This must be a course of at least one year, accredited by the SANC.
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
Experience and Work Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of recognizable experience in nursing after registering as a Professional Nurse with the SANC.
- At least 6 years of this experience must be specifically in Operating Theatre Nursing, gained after obtaining the one-year post-basic specialty qualification.
- At least 3 years of the required experience must be at a management level.
- Inherent Requirements: You must be willing to perform after-hours duties, including working on weekends and public holidays.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Computer literacy, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance and National Core Standards.
- Familiarity with relevant healthcare legislation and nursing specialty policies.
- Proven nursing management skills and strong leadership abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team under pressure.
