Assistant Accountant (Asset Management)

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • A 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably a National Diploma in Accounting.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in asset management (experience in Local Government is preferred).
  • A valid Code B Driver’s License.
  • Basic knowledge of local government laws, such as the MSA and MFMA.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high level of professionalism and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency in computer use.
  • Compliance with the competency levels required by the Municipal Staff Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will handle the following tasks:

  • Collect and organize data for asset verification.
  • Check and verify asset information to keep the main database up to date.
  • Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Supervise staff within the Asset department.
  • Apply financial laws and policies to manage assets effectively.
  • Resolve asset-related queries from other departments.
  • Assist in managing the Capital Financing and Asset Management modules in the financial system.
