The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is responsible for providing public healthcare to the population of the Western Cape province of South Africa. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chief Dietician to join our team.

Educational and Professional Requirements
- A relevant qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dietician.
- Proof of current registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician.
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Dietician after completing your HPCSA registration.
Key Skills and Competencies
We are looking for a professional with the following skills:
- Clinical Expertise: Strong knowledge of therapeutic nutrition, specifically in Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and managing nutrition for conditions such as burns, prematurity (NICU), HIV/AIDS, TB, and malnutrition.
- Teamwork: The ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary medical team in a regional hospital.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for counseling patients and families and collaborating with healthcare staff.
- Leadership: Strong organizational and leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and train junior staff.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Adaptability: The ability to solve problems and prioritize tasks in a resource-limited environment.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Western Cape Department of Health policies and relevant healthcare legislation.
Additional Requirements
- A valid driver’s license (Code B/EB).
- Willingness to travel for outreach and support services within the Rural East Ecosystem.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or overtime if required.
