Job Overview

Minimum Requirements
- NQF Level 4 (Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate).
- A valid Artisan Section 13 or Section 26D Trade Certificate (with Statement of Results).
- At least 5 years of experience as an artisan working on industrial turbine compressors.
- Strong knowledge of lubricants, lubrication systems, and white metal bearings.
- Expertise in gearboxes and turbine compressor maintenance and repairs.
- Knowledge of evaporation cooling systems and water treatment.
- Basic understanding of instrumentation.
- A valid Code B driver’s license.
- Medically fit to work in a mining environment.
- Willingness to work standby and overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Overhead crane operator’s license.
- Telescopic boom operator’s license.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Inspect, service, and repair machinery including pumps, locomotives, and loaders.
- Perform breakdown maintenance and overhaul equipment.
- Manage tool changeovers on hydraulic presses.
- Conduct pre- and post-repair assessments on equipment.
Quality and Safety:
- Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Follow established maintenance procedures to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Help establish monitoring systems to measure the quality of maintenance work.
- Participate in risk assessments and address identified safety risks.
Planning and Strategy:
- Assist with maintenance strategies and manage legal maintenance compliance.
- Coordinate with maintenance officers to schedule repairs and audits.
- Manage the critical spares register and allocate labor to priority tasks.
- Update technical manuals and maintain accurate equipment data in the system.
Organizational Culture:
- Support a values-based culture and participate in organizational development plans.
- Follow international responsible mining principles and environmental standards.
