The Role
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Artisan to join our team at Life Cosmos Hospital. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical services and hospital infrastructure—including HVAC units—are maintained and operating efficiently. You will play a vital role in supporting the hospital’s business goals through expert technical management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance, servicing, and new installations of HVAC units and other mechanical systems.
- Maintain and repair air-conditioning units, air handling units, heat pumps, vacuum pumps, compressors, and autoclaves.
- Ensure kitchen equipment, gas installations, and water systems are in good working order.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections to prevent equipment failure.
- Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns and perform necessary repairs.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance work and filed service reports.
- Manage inventory by tracking spare parts and ordering supplies on time.
- Supervise work done by external contractors to ensure they follow Health and Safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments before starting any maintenance tasks.
- Follow the OHS Act and safety guidelines strictly.
- Participate in the after-hours standby and call-out rotation.
Requirements
- Minimum of an N5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering along with a Trade Test Certificate.
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering.
- A valid driver’s license and your own vehicle is preferred.
- Practical experience working in a hospital or a similar environment is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of maintenance software (CMMS), specifically SAP, is an advantage.
- Technical knowledge of HVAC, air conditioning, and vacuum pump systems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
