About the Role

Eskom is seeking a professional Middle Manager for Financial Accounting within our Insurance division. This role focuses on leading financial functions, ensuring strict internal controls, and providing strategic financial direction to support our operations as South Africa’s primary electricity provider.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all financial and accounting functions for the insurance department.
• Oversee internal controls and manage financial risks.
• Ensure the company meets all statutory and legal requirements.
• Provide strategic guidance to improve financial performance.
• Manage working capital and supervise finance personnel.
• Perform specialized accounting tasks and financial reporting.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Leadership: Strong ability to manage teams, influence stakeholders, and make sound business decisions.
• Financial Expertise: Deep knowledge of accounting practices, IFRS, Company Law, and Tax Law.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to assess financial risks and produce detailed reports.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills for effective stakeholder management.
• Professionalism: High level of accountability, commercial awareness, and ethical judgment.

Knowledge Requirements

• Corporate Governance and internal control frameworks.
• Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
• Performance management reporting.
• Proficiency in financial management software and computer literacy.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Professional Qualification: Must be a Chartered Accountant South Africa – CA (SA).
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in financial management, investments, insurance, and auditing.
