Chairperson: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Steering Committee

Company Overview
The Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) is a statutory body established to support skills development within its specific sectors. We are looking for a dedicated professional to lead our ICT Steering Committee.

Role Summary
As the Chairperson, you will provide high-level leadership and guidance for our technology environment. Your primary goal is to ensure that ICT strategies align with our corporate goals while maintaining strong security, governance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote the effective use of technology throughout the organization.
  • Lead the development and implementation of ICT policies and infrastructure services.
  • Ensure the ICT strategy supports the overall business strategy.
  • Identify technology-related risks and create effective mitigation plans.
  • Oversee the planning and optimization of ICT resources to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Improve the efficiency of current and future technology systems.
  • Manage cybersecurity initiatives, including information security governance, POPIA compliance, and data protection.
  • Promote ethical and responsible use of technology equipment and services.
  • Oversee disaster recovery plans and ensure business continuity through regular testing.
  • Establish and maintain an ICT Governance Framework in line with legal requirements.
  • Submit quarterly progress reports to the Audit and Risk Committee regarding ICT projects and improvements.

Requirements

  • Education: A Matric certificate plus a Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Computer Science, Information Systems, ICT Governance, or a related field.
  • Professional Membership: Active membership in a relevant ICT professional body is required.
  • Executive Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in an Executive Management role overseeing ICT portfolios in medium to large organizations.
  • Governance Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience serving on governance structures, specifically ICT Steering Committees.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience in managing the rollout of ICT infrastructure and systems.
