Rand Water is the largest water utility in Africa. We provide clean, drinkable water to the Gauteng province and surrounding areas. We are currently looking for dedicated individuals to join our Learnership Programme for Water and Wastewater Treatment Operations.

Programme Overview

This learnership is designed to provide young South Africans with practical skills and theoretical knowledge in water management. Participants will work at our treatment plants while completing a formal qualification.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this programme, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a South African citizen with a valid ID.
  • You must be between 18 and 35 years old.
  • You must be currently unemployed.
  • You must not be registered for any other studies or learnership programmes.
  • Education: You must have a Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science (Minimum of Level 3 for both subjects).
  • Important: You must not have any post-matric qualifications (e.g., Degrees or Diplomas). Failure to disclose this will lead to disqualification.

  • A certified copy of your Matric Certificate.
  • A SAQA / NLRD verification report.
  • An updated CV.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

During the learnership, your duties will include:

  • Assisting with the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants.
  • Monitoring water quality and conducting basic laboratory tests.
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance and instrument care.
  • Collecting water samples for analysis.
  • Attending all required classes and participating in training activities.
  • Completing assignments, projects, and maintaining a practical logbook.
