Horticulture Learnership Programme (NQF Level 2)

Rand Water, Africa’s largest water utility, is a major provider of clean water to Gauteng and surrounding provinces. We support industries, mining, and local municipalities, playing a vital role in South Africa’s water and sanitation services.

We are currently looking for dedicated individuals to join our Horticulture Learnership Programme at NQF Level 2. This is a full-time opportunity based in Gauteng, designed for individuals passionate about agriculture and plant care.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this programme, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be currently unemployed.
  • You must not be enrolled in any other institution or registered for any other learnership.
  • You must not have any post-matric (university or college) qualification. (Please note that failing to disclose higher qualifications will lead to disqualification).
  • You must have a Matric (Grade 12) with at least a Level 3 pass in Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and Life Science.
  • You must be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • You must provide an official SAQA / NLRD verification report.

What You Will Do

As a learner in this programme, your duties will include:

  • Assisting with the daily maintenance of horticultural sites and plant nurseries.
  • Checking on the health and growth of various plants.
  • Preparing soil and assisting with planting tasks.
  • Helping to maintain tools, equipment, and irrigation systems.
  • Participating in plant propagation, watering, and fertilizing.
  • Attending all training classes and actively participating in discussions.
  • Completing assignments, projects, and maintaining a practical logbook to track your progress.
