We are looking for a motivated General Assistant to join our team in Emalahleni.
Job Overview
The General Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining store displays, and ensuring a clean and safe shopping environment. This role is open to external applicants only.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) with no previous experience, OR Grade 10 (NQF 3) with at least one year of related work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language of the area.
- A valid South African ID or work permit.
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service:
- Advise and assist customers in finding the right products.
- Help resolve customer complaints and queries professionally.
Merchandising and Housekeeping:
- Pack and display stock safely according to the store layout plan.
- Ensure all products are correctly labeled with the right prices.
- Keep aisles clear of obstacles and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Complete daily checklists for store maintenance.
Safety and Stock Control:
- Follow all safety (OHSA) requirements, including using safety gear.
- Ensure stock is stored safely to prevent injury to customers or staff.
- Report any damaged stock or safety hazards to the Store Manager.
