Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified Fleet Management Officer to oversee the effective use, maintenance, and control of the municipality’s vehicle fleet. The successful candidate will ensure that all transport operations are efficient, safe, and compliant with local regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • A relevant Tertiary Qualification.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in fleet or transport management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development: Create and update fleet management policies and standard operating procedures in line with current laws.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all staff members follow fleet policies and usage guidelines.
  • Operational Control: Manage vehicle and driver usage to ensure the municipality’s resources are used efficiently.
  • Fraud Prevention: Implement strict controls to prevent the abuse, misuse, or fraudulent use of municipal vehicles.
  • Risk Management: Develop and maintain a risk register and evaluate internal controls to protect municipal assets.
  • Needs Analysis: Assess the municipality’s vehicle requirements and coordinate with service providers to ensure vehicle availability.
  • Reporting: Monitor and report any misuse of vehicles and take disciplinary action where necessary.
  • Planning: Establish work programs and schedules to ensure organized fleet management.
