Based in Libode, the municipality is responsible for the management and upkeep of the region, which includes beautiful natural landmarks like the Hluleka Nature Reserve and Mdumbi Beach. We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our environmental management team.
Job Overview
The Landfill Site Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the municipality’s landfill facility. This role ensures that waste management is handled efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with environmental laws.
Requirements
- A National Diploma or Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related field (NQF Level 6).
- A valid Driver’s License.
- Computer literacy, specifically with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, including NEMA and EIA Regulations.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision: Oversee and monitor all daily activities at the landfill site to ensure smooth operations.
- Planning: Create work programs for landfill staff and provide regular progress reports to management.
- Site Management: Help develop operational plans and address any technical or regulatory issues that arise on-site.
- Resource Control: Manage equipment and materials, conduct weekly stock takes, and order new supplies when needed.
- Inspections: Lead routine site inspections with staff to maintain safety and record any incidents.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of all waste entering and leaving the facility.
- Compliance: Ensure all operations follow legal frameworks and environmental safety standards.
- Staff Monitoring: Manage staff attendance and oversee the maintenance of landfill machinery.
