About Senqu Local Municipality

Senqu Local Municipality is located within the Joe Gqabi District of the Eastern Cape. We are looking for a professional and experienced leader to join our team as the Director of Corporate Services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 plus a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Management Sciences, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience at a middle-management level, with a proven track record in successful administration management.
  • Driver’s License: A valid motor vehicle driver’s license is required.

Key Knowledge and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of the following areas:

  • Governance: Knowledge of institutional governance systems, performance management, and council support.
  • Policy & Law: Understanding of relevant government policies, legislation, and Labour Relations.
  • Operations: Oversight of Human Capital Management, Legal Services, Facilities Management, and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
  • Finance & Procurement: Knowledge of Supply Chain Management regulations and the Preferential Procurement Framework Act.
  • Coordination: Ability to manage and oversee all specialized support functions within the municipality.

Professional Competencies

  • Candidates must achieve a “competent” level in the prescribed competency assessment (applicable to preferred candidates).
  • A certificate in the Municipal Minimum Competency Levels is required. Candidates who do not yet have this certificate must obtain it within 18 months of their appointment.

Added Advantages

  • 8 years of middle-management experience in either the public or private sector.
  • A Post-Graduate degree in Public Administration, Management Sciences, Law, or a related field.
