Junior Firefighters (4 Positions) – Permanent
Breede Valley Municipality is seeking dedicated individuals to join our emergency services team. This is a permanent, full-time role based in Worcester, Western Cape, focused on protecting lives and property through fire suppression, rescue operations, and community safety programs.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for a wide range of emergency and maintenance tasks, including:
- Responding to fires, hazardous material incidents, and other emergency or humanitarian calls.
- Performing rescue operations, including urban search and rescue and high-angle rescues.
- Providing emergency medical treatment, including first aid and resuscitation, to injured persons.
- Operating and maintaining specialized firefighting equipment and vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
- Participating in physical fitness training, simulation exercises, and emergency drills.
- Conducting public fire safety education and community demonstrations.
- Assisting with the general maintenance and cleaning of fire stations and grounds.
- Maintaining accurate records, including shift logbooks and incident reports.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or higher.
- Certifications: Firefighter I, Hazmat Awareness, and First Aid Level 3.
- License: A valid Code B driver’s license.
- Experience: At least one year of operational experience in a similar environment.
- Fitness: Must be physically and mentally fit, meeting NFPA 1582 medical standards.
- Background: No criminal record.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills and proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
