Job Overview
The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure is looking for a qualified and competent Fitter and Turner to join the Central Mechanical Workshop. This role involves technical design, production, and maintenance services to support the department’s infrastructure projects.
Minimum Requirements
- A valid Trade Test Certificate in Fitting and Turning.
- A valid driver’s license (Code B or higher).
Key Responsibilities
- Design: Create designs based on client specifications and production capabilities.
- Production: Manufacture items using specific materials and equipment according to industry standards.
- Maintenance: Inspect equipment and facilities to identify and fix technical faults.
- Administration: Compile and submit technical reports and perform related administrative duties.
- Continuous Improvement: Keep up to date with new technologies and maintenance procedures.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in repairing and maintaining road construction plants and vehicle spare parts.
- Strong technical analysis and report-writing skills.
- Knowledge of legal compliance within the engineering field.
- Ability to work well in a team and provide leadership when needed.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in computer use and professional communication (written and verbal).
- Strong planning, organizing, and conflict management skills.
