About the Position
The Western Cape Department of Agriculture (WCDoA) is looking for a qualified and competent Civil Engineering Technician. The successful candidate will provide essential technical services and support for sustainable resource management, operations, and maintenance in the Caledon region.
Job Purpose
In this role, you will support the department’s mission to enhance the agricultural sector by assisting with technical projects, ensuring sustainable resource use, and maintaining infrastructure operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support: Assist engineers and technologists with activities in the field, workshop, and technical office.
- Design and Analysis: Use technical knowledge and computer-aided applications to assist in engineering designs.
- Administration: Manage related administrative functions and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Research: Participate in research and development initiatives to improve departmental services.
Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3-year National Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related qualification.
- Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technician.
- A minimum of three years of post-qualification technical engineering experience.
- A valid driver’s license.

- Software Proficiency: Experience with computer-aided engineering applications.
- Management Skills: Strong project management, planning, and organizational abilities.
