Handyman Assistant – Durban

CBRE Excellerate is a leading provider of high-quality real estate and facilities management services across Africa and the Middle East. We are currently looking for a motivated Handyman Assistant to join our team in Durban and support our maintenance operations across various client sites.

Role Overview

In this role, you will work closely with our Handyman to deliver essential maintenance and repair services. You will assist with a variety of tasks including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general building repairs. A key part of this position involves using smartphone technology to manage digital job cards and track tasks accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Handyman with general building maintenance and repairs.
• Support tasks such as painting, tiling, plumbing, masonry, and office furniture repairs.
• Prepare tools, materials, and equipment for daily site tasks.
• Help conduct site inspections and provide accurate reports on maintenance issues.
• Complete daily administrative tasks using mobile applications for digital job cards and reporting.
• Respond promptly to site call-outs and assist with planned maintenance tasks.
• Maintain regular communication with the Handyman and Operations Manager.
• Follow all health, safety, and operational procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in general building or facilities maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks (plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc.).
• A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel between different client sites.
• Proficiency in using a smartphone and mobile applications for work tracking.
• Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude.
• Reliability, integrity, and a strong attention to detail.
