Job Opportunity: Administrator (Indigent Support)

Overstrand Municipality is looking for a qualified professional to join our team as an Administrator for Indigent Support. The Overstrand Municipality is located in the Western Cape and serves the communities of Hermanus, Gansbaai, and Kleinmond.

Role Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring support programs for indigent residents. You will ensure that records are accurate, staff are supervised, and municipal procedures are followed correctly to support community members in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track recipients of indigent support.
  • Create and maintain detailed reports regarding indigent programs.
  • Supervise and control administrative tasks within the department.
  • Act as a Commissioner of Oaths.
  • Prepare and update the Indigent Eskom list.
  • Oversee the debt collection process.
  • Capture and approve financial journals.
  • Provide professional service and assistance to clients.

Requirements

  • Education: A Grade 12 Certificate and an NQF Level 5 Certificate with Accounting as a major subject.
  • Experience: 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Skills: Advanced computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Access).
  • Language: Ability to communicate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
  • License: A valid Code B or EB driver’s license.
  • Knowledge: A solid understanding of municipal systems, legislation, and infrastructure.
