Role Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Contract Manager to oversee our People Logistics division. This role is responsible for leading a team of drivers, optimizing transport routes, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
- Leadership: Supervise and mentor drivers and logistics assistants to ensure a culture of safety and high-quality service.
- Scheduling: Manage shift rotations and daily vehicle assignments to ensure 100% route coverage.
- Performance: Conduct regular coaching, address staff concerns, and ensure all drivers are trained on safety protocols and company policies.
- Compliance: Verify that all driver licenses and certifications are valid and up to date.
Operational Excellence
- Route Optimization: Review and improve transport routes to save time, reduce fuel costs, and increase efficiency.
- Daily Execution: Oversee the daily dispatch process and ensure all vehicle logs are completed accurately.
- Problem Solving: Act as the first point of contact for transport issues, such as breakdowns, delays, or accidents, and implement quick solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR and Operations teams to adjust transport plans for peak periods or special events.
Safety and Fleet Management
- Maintenance: Manage vehicle service schedules to ensure all transport is safe and ready for use.
- Inspections: Perform regular audits of vehicle checks and manage company equipment like fuel cards and keys.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs regarding maintenance, fuel consumption, and incident reports.
Administration and Reporting
- Analysis: Track performance data, including fuel efficiency, on-time arrivals, and maintenance costs.
- Reporting: Prepare weekly and monthly reports for management regarding operational successes and areas for improvement.
- Budgeting: Monitor expenses and identify ways to reduce operational costs.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in People Logistics (specifically moving 50+ people).
- Proven experience in route planning and fleet coordination.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse team.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Working Conditions
- This role involves both office-based planning and active management in the yard/warehouse.
- Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as our operations run 24/7.
- The role requires standing and walking for extended periods in various weather conditions.
