The Role
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Financial Services to serve as our Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing the municipality’s financial health, ensuring compliance with local government legislation, and driving strategic financial planning.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A Post-Graduate Degree (NQF Level 8) in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, or a Chartered Accountant (SA) qualification.
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience in middle and senior management, with a minimum of 2 years specifically at the senior management level.
- Legal Compliance: Must meet the National Treasury’s minimum competency levels for Chief Financial Officers.
- Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
- Licensing: A valid Code B driver’s license.
Knowledge and Skills
- Deep understanding of local government financial management and relevant legislation (such as the MFMA).
- Strong expertise in institutional governance, performance management, and strategic planning.
- The ability to lead and motivate a team while making high-level executive decisions.
- Proficiency in computer systems and financial software.
- Excellent communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
- A clear understanding of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and its role in service delivery.
