About the Role
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is looking for a Business Systems Specialist to join our Customs and Excise team. In this role, you will provide expert guidance to improve our business systems and service delivery. You will play a key part in modernization projects and participate in Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions to help shape the future of our digital operations.
Key Responsibilities
Process and Strategy:
- Monitor work progress and provide data for decision-making and process improvements.
- Identify trends and potential risks within our systems and procedures.
- Apply policies and legislation correctly to ensure high-quality work outputs.
- Solve emerging technical problems by diagnosing causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Initiate and manage changes to procedures to meet new operational requirements.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Governance and Compliance:
- Ensure all work meets official policy, ethics, and legislative standards.
- Identify and report any deviations or risks in system governance.
Client and People Management:
- Promote a culture of service excellence for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide specialist advice and expertise to help solve complex queries.
- Share knowledge with team members and stay updated on industry trends.
Minimum Requirements
You can qualify for this position through one of the following two paths:
Option 1:
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Business or Systems Analysis.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in Information Technology.
- At least 5 years of experience specifically as a Business or Systems Analyst within a Customs and Excise environment.
Option 2:
- A Senior Certificate (Matric / NQF 4) plus relevant IT or Business Analysis certifications.
- 10 years of experience in Information Technology with a background in Business/Systems Analysis or Consulting.
