Bergrivier Municipality is committed to serving our community of over 56,000 residents across various regions, including Eendekuil, Velddrif, Porterville, and Piketberg. We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as an Attendant in Eendekuil.
Role Overview
The Attendant performs essential manual labor and routine maintenance to ensure our municipal services run smoothly. This role involves maintaining public spaces, repairing infrastructure, and supporting waste management efforts to keep our community clean and safe.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Basic literacy (NQF Level 1) and a Department Proficiency Test.
- Languages: Proficiency in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages (Afrikaans, English, or isiXhosa).
- Physical Fitness: Applicants must be physically fit and able-bodied as the work is demanding.
- Flexibility: Must be willing to work outside normal hours during emergencies, perform planned overtime, and work in various weather conditions.
- Environment: Ability to work in confined spaces (such as manholes and pipes) and across all areas of the municipality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labor for the maintenance and repair of roads, storm water systems, and drainage.
- Maintain public open spaces, sports grounds, community halls, and other municipal facilities.
- Assist with refuse collection from residential and business premises.
- Operate hand tools and small machinery (such as spades, pick-axes, vibrator rollers, and tar cutters).
- Clear blockages from drainage systems and sweep sidewalks.
- Ensure all work is done in compliance with Health and Safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with meter readings and vehicle cleaning as required.
