About Dikgatlong Municipality
Dikgatlong Municipality is located within the Frances Baard District in the Northern Cape province. We are looking for a qualified and professional Financial Accountant to manage our income division and ensure the financial health of our municipality.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Grade 12 certificate plus a National Diploma or Degree in Accounting.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant experience in a financial environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in computer use. Experience with the Sebata financial system is a strong advantage.
- Regulations: Must meet the Minimum Competency Levels as required by the Municipal Competency Regulations, or be willing to undergo the necessary training.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Accountant and will be responsible for the following:
- Managing the daily operations of the income division and supervising staff.
- Reconciling all registers and managing debtor control accounts.
- Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures related to income.
- Overseeing consumer billing, meter-related activities, and security deposits.
- Implementing strategies to improve revenue collection.
- Managing fraud prevention and reporting mechanisms within the department.
- Supervising daily cash collections and balancing takings.
- Verifying and approving any corrections made to consumer accounts.
