Junior HR Admin Assistant (6-Month Contract)
About the Company
SA Metal Group is South Africa’s oldest and largest metal recycling company. For over a century, we have been a leader in purchasing, processing, and recycling all forms of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including iron, steel, aluminium, copper, and more. We are currently looking for a professional and motivated Junior HR Admin Assistant to join our Cape Town team on a 6-month contract.
Role Overview
In this role, you will provide essential support to the Human Resources Department. You will assist with daily administrative tasks, recruitment processes, and the maintenance of accurate employee records.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support to the HR team.
- Assist with the full recruitment cycle, including drafting job adverts, screening applications, and scheduling interviews.
- Conduct interviews for entry-level positions and perform background/employment checks.
- Coordinate the onboarding and induction process for new employees.
- Manage and update employee records, including information on wages, leave, and training.
- Support the training and development department with administrative functions as needed.
Requirements
- A Diploma in Human Resource Management.
- 1 to 2 years of practical experience in the HR field.
- Good working knowledge of the Labor Relations Act (LRA) and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- The ability to handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality and discretion.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
