2026 SABS Youth Development Programme: Laboratory Services (Electro-technical)

The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) is the national statutory body responsible for the promotion and maintenance of standardization and quality in South Africa. We invite motivated, unemployed graduates to apply for our one-year Internship Programme starting in April 2026.

This programme is designed to provide graduates with practical work exposure, mentorship, and learning opportunities that align with national skills priorities. Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R8,000.00 for the 12-month duration of the contract.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Must have completed a relevant Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have achieved a minimum 80% academic average for the completed qualification.
  • Must have no prior formal work experience related to their field of study.
  • Must be currently unemployed.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will participate in structured learning and practical workplace experiences, including:

  • Taking part in specialized training and development initiatives.
  • Gaining hands-on experience through rotational assignments within the laboratory services department.
  • Assisting with departmental projects, technical research, and administrative tasks.
  • Applying academic knowledge to solve real-world technical challenges.
  • Collaborating with team members and supervisors to meet organizational objectives.
  • Submitting regular progress reports and completing required assessments.
