2026 SABS Youth Development Programme: Laboratory Services (PTS Scheme)
The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) invites unemployed graduates to apply for our one-year Internship Programme, starting in April 2026. This programme provides graduates with practical work exposure, professional mentoring, and learning opportunities aligned with national skills priorities.
Programme Overview
- Position: Graduate Intern (Laboratory Services)
- Duration: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
- Stipend: R8,000.00 per month
- Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Must have completed a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Must have achieved a minimum 80% academic average for the completed qualification.
- Must have no prior formal work experience related to the field of study.
- Must be currently unemployed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Participants will gain meaningful workplace experience through structured learning, including:
- Participating in structured training and development initiatives.
- Gaining practical experience through rotational assignments and hands-on learning.
- Assisting with departmental projects, research, and administrative tasks.
- Applying academic knowledge to real-world laboratory and technical environments.
- Collaborating with team members and supervisors to meet departmental goals.
- Submitting progress reports and completing assessments throughout the programme.
