Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A University degree (B.Eng or B.Sc. Eng) in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of post-qualification experience in water infrastructure, specifically related to dam design, construction, and the safety of hydraulic structures.
  • Compulsory registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
  • A valid, unexpired driver’s license.

Core Skills and Competencies

Successful candidates should demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of engineering design, analysis, and legal compliance.
  • Technical expertise in dam engineering, including hydraulics, hydrology, geology, foundations, and structural design.
  • Knowledge of dam safety regulations and construction materials.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SLIDE, and project planning tools.
  • Experience in project management, contract administration, and the management of consulting engineers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and provide sound engineering judgment when reviewing designs.
