We are currently looking for a motivated Assistant Store Manager to join our team at the Epsom Downs Shopping Centre in Gauteng.
Role Overview
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the store runs smoothly. Your primary goal is to drive sales, lead a high-performing team, and provide exceptional service to our customers. This is an exciting opportunity for a retail professional who is passionate about growth and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Performance: Maximize sales by executing promotional activities, cross-selling, and ensuring the team provides superior customer service.
- Operations Management: Oversee daily store operations, including stock management, shrinkage control, expenses, and general administration.
- Visual Merchandising: Ensure the store looks its best by maintaining high standards for displays and promotional setups in line with the brand image.
- Team Leadership: Support and motivate staff to reach their goals. You will manage the team in the Store Manager’s absence and assist with daily work schedules and labor policy compliance.
- Customer Loyalty: Drive customer service initiatives, including ClubCard participation, to ensure a great shopping experience.
- Administration: Manage HR-related tasks, such as maintaining employee records and submitting accurate time and attendance data.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (minimum 50% in both Mathematics and English).
- Qualification: A relevant Retail or Business Management qualification is required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a retail management role or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
- Financial Knowledge: Experience managing budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.

- Knowledge of labor legislation and people management.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computer literacy and basic numeracy.
- Ability to lead a team and work well under pressure.
