Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and confident Assistant Store Manager to join our team in Colesberg. In this role, you will support the Store Manager in driving sales, building customer loyalty, and ensuring the store operates efficiently. You will play a key part in meeting profit targets and maintaining high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales and Growth: Drive store performance by encouraging cross-selling and up-selling while delivering excellent customer service.
- Operations: Manage daily store activities, including stock control, administrative tasks, and expense management.
- Visual Standards: Ensure the store looks professional by maintaining high standards of visual merchandising and promotional displays.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate staff to reach their goals and manage the team effectively when the Store Manager is away.
- Scheduling: Help manage staff rosters to ensure the store is always properly staffed.
- Customer Experience: Promote the Clicks Club Card program and resolve customer needs to build long-term loyalty.
- Administration: Complete HR-related tasks, such as tracking employee time and attendance, with accuracy.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 with at least 50% in both Mathematics and English. A degree or diploma in Retail or Business Management is highly preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience as an Assistant Store Manager in a retail or FMCG environment, or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
- Financial Knowledge: Basic understanding of budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of retail merchandising and promotional principles.
- Familiarity with stock control, risk management, and labor legislation.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent planning, organizing, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills and basic computer literacy.
- The ability to work well under pressure and meet targets.
