Purpose of the Role
The Senior Manager: Recoveries and Litigation is responsible for designing and managing the legal recoveries process. The goal is to maximize cost-effective recoveries and support the organization’s overall investment strategy through professional legal management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Recoveries and Litigation unit.
- Provide expert legal support to the investment branch of the organization.
- Conduct legal research and provide formal legal opinions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate litigation-related agreements.
- Advise the corporation on investment litigation matters.
- Ensure good governance by advising on policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present reports to various management committees.
- Manage and mentor Legal Advisors within the unit.
Requirements
- A Post-graduate degree in Law (LLM) or an equivalent qualification.
- 8 to 10 years of post-admission experience within the financial or investment industry.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a leadership or management role with direct reports.
- A deep understanding of the investment management environment.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong project planning and implementation abilities.
- Knowledge of the asset management industry and government regulations.
- Ability to interpret complex legislation and statutes.
