About the Position

The Mpumalanga Department of Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Administration Clerk to join the Patient Administration team at Rob Ferreira Hospital. We are looking for a professional individual committed to providing equitable, people-centered healthcare services in line with the Batho Pele Principles.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Grade 12 Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • A clear understanding of customer care and the Batho Pele Principles.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential administrative support. Primary duties include:

Patient Records and Data Management

  • Capturing patient records accurately on the PIES/PEIS system.
  • Opening new patient files and updating existing accounts.
  • Managing the filing system to ensure records are organized and accessible.
  • Determining patient fee classifications according to UPFS guidelines by verifying necessary information.

General Office Administration

  • Handling general inquiries related to patient information.
  • Performing clerical tasks such as typing documents, photocopying, and registering incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Assisting with the collection of daily statistics.
  • Managing telephone accounts and petty cash for the department.
  • Distributing documents and packages to relevant stakeholders as needed.
