About the Role
The Mpumalanga Department of Health is looking for a dedicated and skilled Accounting Clerk to join the Revenue team. The successful candidate will support our mission of providing equitable and high-quality healthcare by managing financial administrative tasks and ensuring accurate revenue collection.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will handle a variety of financial and administrative duties, including:
- Managing daily banking activities and reconciliations.
- Processing billings for private accounts using the PEIS system and communicating with relevant stakeholders.
- Handling patient files for the Road Accident Fund (RAF), private patients, and Injury on Duty (IOD) claims.
- Capturing invoices on the BAS system and maintaining organized filing systems for all revenue documents.
- Verifying and classifying patient information to ensure accurate billing and record-keeping.
- Assisting with general administrative tasks such as typing, photocopying, and managing incoming and outgoing documents.
- Collecting patient fees, recording payments, and assisting with the collection of financial statistics.
- Responding to routine inquiries and distributing documents to appropriate departments.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A Grade 12 Certificate (Matric) with a passing grade in Mathematics or an equivalent qualification.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- The ability to work accurately under pressure in a professional environment.
