Role Overview

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead efforts to integrate environmental management and ecological infrastructure into local governance. Key duties include:
- Providing strategic leadership and policy advice on Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR) across four District Municipalities.
- Managing partnerships and engagements between SANBI and external stakeholders regarding environmental regulations.
- Leading capacity-building programs to help district officials incorporate biodiversity and Eco-DRR priorities into their daily operations.
- Overseeing the assessment of current risk management frameworks and tools for both natural and built infrastructure.
Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Environmental Sciences or a related field. A post-graduate degree (NQF 8) is a significant advantage.
- Experience: At least 8 years of professional experience in environmental policy implementation or advisory roles.
- Management: A minimum of 4 years must be in a first-line management position.
