The WCED is responsible for early childhood development and primary and secondary education in the Western Cape. Our mission is to improve literacy and numeracy skills, boost matric results, and ensure all communities have access to high-quality education.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Director to support our financial and budgetary operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing financial processes and helping the department achieve its strategic goals.
Requirements
- A National Diploma or Degree in Finance.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a financial or budget-focused environment.
- A valid driver’s license.
Key Skills and Knowledge
- Financial Expertise: Strong understanding of financial policies, regulations, and processes.
- Data Analysis: Ability to analyze financial data and use data modeling to inform decisions.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience with financial software systems.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage people, provide clear direction, and work effectively under pressure.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
