About the Western Cape Education Department (WCED)
The WCED is responsible for early childhood development as well as primary and secondary school education within the province. Our main goals are to improve literacy and numeracy skills, increase matric pass rates, and ensure that children in every community have access to quality education.
Requirements
- A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or a Degree in Human Resources (or an equivalent qualification).
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Human Resources Administration.
Preferred Experience
While not strictly required, the following will be an advantage:
- Experience working within the public service or an education environment.
- Familiarity with employment laws and conditions of service legislation.
- The ability to communicate effectively in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape.
Key Knowledge and Skills
Professional Knowledge:
- Understanding of the Public Service Act and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Knowledge of Education Law, Policy, and Personnel Administration Measures (PAM).
- Familiarity with Public Service Regulations, Collective Agreements, and the PERSAL system.
Professional Skills:
- Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Skills in facilitation, presentation, and conflict resolution.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
IT Proficiency:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience using MS Outlook and the internet.
