The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is responsible for early childhood development and primary and secondary school education in the province. Our main goals are to improve literacy and numeracy skills, enhance matric results, and ensure every community has access to quality education.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Information Systems Officer to support our ICT and data management initiatives. The successful candidate will help maintain the systems that keep our educational infrastructure running efficiently.
Requirements
- Education: A relevant National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience in information systems or ICT.
- Language: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in two of the official languages of the Western Cape.
Key Knowledge and Skills
To excel in this role, you should have knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Education Information Systems such as DMIS, CEMIS, PMPS, EduInfoSearch, SAMI, and IMS.
- ICT Strategy: Understanding of ICT operational plans and departmental procedures (CITCOM and DITCOM).
- Compliance: Knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes and education-specific ICT policies.
- Data Management: Strong skills in managing data and information effectively.
- Professional Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, report writing, presentation skills, and the ability to work well with others.
