Deputy Director: HIV Prevention (Health)

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is responsible for providing public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape. We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our team as a Deputy Director for HIV Prevention, focusing on the Late Life Course.

Role Overview

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • An appropriate 3-year Degree (or equivalent) in a Health-Related field.
  • Current registration with the South African Health Professions Council (HPCSA) or the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Extensive experience in managing and coordinating public health programs.
  • Extensive experience in policy development, translation, and implementation.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • A valid driver’s license and the willingness to travel to various districts and national offices.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and policy documents.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate healthcare service performance and recommend improvements.
  • Solid project management and research capabilities.
  • A thorough understanding of the legal, clinical, and managerial aspects of public health.
