The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is the provincial government body dedicated to providing quality public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape. We are currently looking for qualified Medical Officers to join our team in various capacities.

Requirements and Experience
To qualify for this position, you must have an appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner. Current registration with the HPCSA is mandatory.
Experience levels are categorized as follows:
- Grade 1: No experience required for SA-qualified employees after registration. For foreign-qualified employees, at least 1 year of experience after registration with a recognized foreign council is required.
- Grade 2: At least 5 years of experience after registration for SA-qualified employees, or 6 years for foreign-qualified employees.
- Grade 3: At least 10 years of experience after registration for SA-qualified employees, or 11 years for foreign-qualified employees.
Key Job Requirements
- A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
- A willingness to serve at various Primary Health Care Clinics within the Sub-district.
- A commitment to rotate between facilities and participate in the commuted overtime system at Radie Kotze and Lapa Munnik Hospitals.
Skills and Competencies
- The ability to make independent decisions and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary medical team.
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A solid understanding of the Department of Health’s policies, protocols, and relevant legislation.
