The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is looking for qualified Medical Officers to join our team. This department is responsible for providing essential public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape province.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Officer.
- Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Officer.
- A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
Experience Requirements by Grade
The level of experience required depends on the grade you are applying for:
Grade 1:
- South African Qualified: No experience required after registration with the HPCSA.
- Foreign Qualified: At least 1 year of relevant experience after registration with a recognized foreign health council (for those not required to perform Community Service).
Grade 2:
- South African Qualified: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Practitioner after HPCSA registration.
- Foreign Qualified: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience after registration with a recognized foreign health council.
Grade 3:
- South African Qualified: Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Medical Practitioner after HPCSA registration.
- Foreign Qualified: Minimum of 11 years of relevant experience after registration with a recognized foreign health council.
