About the Position
Ubuntu Local Municipality is looking for a dedicated Traffic Officer to join our team in the Northern Cape. This role is essential for maintaining road safety by ensuring that all drivers and vehicles meet the legal requirements of the Road Traffic Act. You will be responsible for testing new drivers, inspecting vehicles for roadworthiness, and handling administrative records.

Key Responsibilities
- Testing and Licensing: Coordinate and conduct tests for learner and driver’s licenses to ensure applicants meet safety standards.
- Vehicle Inspections: Examine vehicles for roadworthiness and issue the necessary certifications.
- Administration: Maintain accurate records, submit reports, and organize documentation according to official guidelines.
- Facility Oversight: Inspect testing facilities for defects and report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Law Enforcement: Implement municipal bylaws and perform general law enforcement duties.
- License Renewals: Process the renewal or conversion of driver’s licenses and Professional Driving Permits (PrDP).
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Training: A Basic Traffic/Law Enforcement Training Certificate recognized by the relevant authorities.
- Qualifications: Grade A Examiner of Vehicles and Grade A Examiner of Learners and Driver’s Licenses.
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience specifically as an examiner of vehicles and licenses.
- Driver’s License: A valid Code EB driver’s license.
- Clearance: No criminal record (a Police Clearance certificate is required).
- Skills: Computer literacy and fireman proficiency.
- Languages: Proficiency in at least two of the official languages spoken in the Northern Cape.
