Job Opportunity: Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant
Location: Thabong – Sebokeng, Gauteng
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical retailer. We are currently looking for a professional and dedicated Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join our team at the Thabong store.
Role Overview
In this position, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care. Your main goal is to assist patients with their medication needs while ensuring all pharmacy operations meet professional and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines.
- Prepare, compound, and package non-sterile medicines according to approved formulas and safety procedures.
- Manage and control stock for Schedule 1 through Schedule 5 substances.
- Order medicine and scheduled substances as authorized by the responsible pharmacist.
- Accurately interpret, capture, and process prescriptions.
- Ensure correct picking, labeling, and packing of medication.
- Check for drug interactions and ensure all medication is signed off by a pharmacist.
- Provide patients with clear instructions on how to use their medication correctly.
- Process medical aid claims, handle rejected scripts, and manage chronic medication authorizations.
- Assist with stocktakes and ensure the dispensary is well-merchandised.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.
- Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Practical experience using the Unisolv system.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent in English and at least one other official language.
- Willingness to work retail hours.
Advantageous Skills
- Experience in Retail or FMCG environments.
- Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting software.
- Experience with family planning and complementary medicines.
- Fluency in a third language.

Special Conditions of Employment
