Assistant Store Manager – Birkenstock (Springfield, Durban)

The Role

As the Assistant Store Manager, you will support the daily operations of the store. Your goal is to drive sales, lead the team, and maintain high standards of customer service while managing inventory and store presentation.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Business Growth

  • Communicate daily sales targets to the team and ensure they are met.
  • Focus the team on delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  • Build professional relationships within the local community to generate new business.
  • Grow and maintain the customer database to promote brand offers.

Team Leadership

  • Motivate and lead the store team through regular meetings and constructive feedback.
  • Manage staff rosters and control labor costs effectively.
  • Oversee team training, including sales techniques and product knowledge.
  • Coordinate the induction and development of new staff members.

Inventory and Stock Control

  • Monitor stock levels and process weekly orders to ensure the right product mix.
  • Manage stock counts and minimize shrinkage through accurate record-keeping.
  • Oversee the delivery process, including pricing and tagging of new merchandise.
  • Ensure the storeroom is organized according to brand standards.

Daily Operations

  • Ensure compliance with company policies regarding cash handling and security.
  • Maintain high visual merchandising standards for the store and window displays.
  • Manage store opening and closing procedures and daily banking.
  • Prepare necessary reports at the end of each month.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in the retail industry.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a self-starting attitude.
