Assistant Manager: Maintenance Logistics

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Manager for Projects and Construction Compliance to join our team in Johannesburg.

Role Overview

In this role, you will support the end-to-end delivery of capital projects, maintenance work, and infrastructure upgrades. You will ensure all projects are completed safely, on time, and in full compliance with South African Construction Regulations (OHS Act). This position involves managing projects through all six professional stages, from initial design to final handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all project stages: inception, design, procurement, construction, and close-out.
  • Develop project briefs, timelines, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor site progress and lead technical meetings.
  • Manage contract variations, claims, and contractor performance.
  • Ensure all project documentation, warranties, and certifications are completed at handover.
  • Act as the client representative to meet legal obligations under Construction Regulation 5.
  • Review Health and Safety specifications and ensure contractors submit compliant safety files.
  • Conduct safety audits and site walks to ensure regulatory adherence.

Requirements

  • Qualification: NQF Level 5 (level 8 framework) in Engineering, Construction, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of experience in construction project management.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Legal Knowledge: Solid understanding of South African Construction Regulations and safety legislation.
  • Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
