The Parliament of the Republic of South Africa serves as the nation’s legislature, consisting of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. We are looking for a professional Internal Auditor specializing in IT to join our team.

Role Overview

As an IT Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for planning and executing audit tasks to ensure the institution’s information systems are secure and efficient. You will work closely with management to identify risks, evaluate controls, and provide recommendations for improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Audit Planning and Organization

  • Schedule and complete audit tasks assigned by the Audit Supervisor and IA Manager.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients through regular meetings.
  • Help develop the Annual Audit Plan and promote internal control standards throughout the organization.
  • Conduct interviews with staff and prepare detailed working papers for review.
  • Identify weaknesses in processes and provide practical recommendations to improve efficiency.
  • Follow up on outstanding audit recommendations to ensure they are addressed.

Execution and Reporting

  • Perform audit procedures, including risk evaluation and control testing.
  • Execute work according to departmental policies and international auditing standards (ISACA and IIA).
  • Analyze the root causes of findings and communicate results clearly to the Chief Audit Executive.
  • Support risk assessment activities and help improve internal processes.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain positive partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve client satisfaction and institutional processes.

Requirements

  • A 3-year Degree (NQF level 6) in IT Audit or a related IT field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in IT Auditing.
  • Experience in the public sector is a plus.
  • Professional membership with IIA or ISACA is an advantage.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of auditing principles, theories, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of IT frameworks such as COBIT and ITIL.
  • Experience with audit software, specifically TeamMate.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and risk assessment software.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and related risks.
  • Knowledge of the Financial Management of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures Act (FMPPLA).
