Role Summary

We are looking for a Chief Accounting Clerk to join our team in the Paarl Education District. In this role, you will provide essential financial and clerical support to help our district run efficiently.

Requirements

  • A Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in a financial or accounting environment.

What You Will Do

  • Provide financial clerical support to the Education District.
  • Capture financial data and manage financial statistics accurately.
  • Use public service financial systems to process information.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with government financial regulations and laws.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge:

  • A strong understanding of financial functions and practices.
  • Familiarity with Public Service financial legislation and Treasury regulations (such as PFMA and DORA).
  • Experience using financial operating systems like PERSAL, BAS, or LOGIS.

Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, specifically in accounting software.
  • Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Accurate numeracy skills and a high attention to detail.
  • The ability to perform routine tasks and work well with others.
