Role Overview

We are looking for a professional and experienced Chief Accounting Clerk to join our Finance Directorate. This role focuses on accounts receivable and debt management. You will be responsible for overseeing debt collection processes and ensuring financial regulations are followed.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A Grade 12 certificate (Matric) with Accounting or Mathematics. A National Diploma in Financial Accounting is required.
  • Experience: 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in debt management and collections.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in a supervisory or team-leading role.

Technical Knowledge

Candidates should have a strong understanding of the following:

  • Financial systems, specifically PERSAL and BAS.
  • The Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
  • Standard financial reporting procedures.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Computer Literacy: High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Communication: Excellent report-writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to handle financial challenges and manage debt recovery efficiently.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The ability to work well within a team and manage professional relationships.
