The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is responsible for providing public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape province. We are currently seeking a dedicated and qualified professional to fill the role of EMS Station Manager.

Job Overview

  • Position: EMS Station Manager (Grade 3 to 6)
  • Employment Type: Full Time
  • Location: Western Cape
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years

Educational and Professional Requirements

Applicants must meet the requirements for one of the following grades based on their qualifications and HPCSA registration:

  • Grade 3: Completion of the Immediate Life Support (ILS) course. Must be registered with the HPCSA as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) with at least 3 years of experience after registration.
  • Grade 4: Completion of the Emergency Care Technician (ECT) course. Must be registered with the HPCSA as an ECT with at least 3 years of experience after registration.
  • Grade 5: Completion of the Critical Care Assistant (CCA) course or a National Diploma. Must be registered with the HPCSA as a Paramedic with at least 3 years of experience after registration.
  • Grade 6: Completion of a B-Tech Degree. Must be registered with the HPCSA as an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) with at least 3 years of experience after registration.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Current and valid registration with the HPCSA in one of the categories listed above.
  • Valid Code C1 driver’s license.
  • Valid Code 10 Professional Driver’s Permit (PrDP).
  • Physical and mental fitness required for Emergency Medical Services.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory role.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of all Emergency Care protocols.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, specifically the MS Office package.
  • Professional report-writing skills.
